Three Olympian bronze medallists and Springbok Sevens stars, Cecil Africa, Chris Dry and Rosco Specman joined the Toyota Cheetah squad for training on Monday. The players are all contracted with the Toyota Free State Cheetahs until the end of October 2017.
Cecil Africa played fifteen-man rugby for the Griffons in 2011 and was the 2011 IRB International Sevens Player of the Year and was part of the Sevens Team that took Bronze in the 2010 Commonwealth Games held in Deli, India. He was the top point scorer for 2010-11 IRB Sevens World Series.
Chris Dry grew up in Bloemfontein and played for the Grey College and the Shimlas. He represented the Free State Cheetahs in Vodacom Cup in 2010, before he South African Seven’s set-up and participated in four tournaments in the 2009-2010 IRB World Series and quickly established himself as a regular in the side. Specman joined the Toyota Cheetahs for the Beachcomber World Club 10’s in Mauritius and was a great team player.
Cecil Africa, Chris Dry and Rosco Specman will add value to the Toyota Cheetahs and we are excited to see them in action.
