Mohoje leads Toyota Cheetahs against Kings in second SA Derby

Springbok flanker, Oupa Mohoje will be leading the Toyota Cheetahs against the Kings on Saturday in Toyota Stadium.  This match will mark his 51st game for the Toyota Cheetahs.  The second South African Guinness PRO Derby kicks off at 17:00 (SA time). The match will be broadcasted live on SuperSport 1 and in the UK and Ireland on Sky Sports Main Event.

The Toyota Cheetahs will still be aiming to close the gap on second placed Munster in Conference A – a bonus point win will put them within three points of the Irish province.  “We need to focus on our standards – the detail and dissipline, the small things and what we need to do,” said Captain Oupa Mohoje.  “Derbies are always more personal and we are focussing on us and what we need to do to get our execution right.”

It’s summer rugby in Toyota Stadium this Saturday when the Toyota Cheetahs take on the Kings at 17:00 in a Guinness PRO14 match.

Gates open at 15:30.  Bring your towel and cool off in the Twizza Dunk Tank next to the field.  Elandré will be providing entertainment at the Castle Deck after the match.

Tickets are available online at https://fsrugby.appwizard.co.za/index2.htm or from the ticket office in Toyota Stadium. Download the new Cheetahs Rugby app on the Android app store (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.johnsonwalters.cheetahsrugby) and use the ticket bought online to get stadium access with your phone.

Tickets are R80 for adults on the main stand and kids pay R30 on the main stand.  An open stand ticket will cost R60 for an adult and only R20 for a student or scholar.  Come support the South African champions in Guinness PRO14.

Coach Rory Duncan has announced his team with some changes from last week’s encounter:

  • Oupa Mohoje will be taking over the captaincy from Torsten van Jaarsveld who has been side-lined due to a minor injury. Jacques du Toit will be the starting hooker.
  • The Toyota Cheetah’s Vodacom SuperRugby player of the year for 2017, Aranos Coetzee will be starting at tight head prop, with Tom Botha providing cover on the bench.
  • Henco Venter will be replacing Paul Schoeman in the starting line-up.
  • Joseph Dweba and Clinton Swart will be making their Guinness PRO14 debuts when he sets foot to field.

Makazole Mapimpi is still with 9 tires the top Guinness PRO14 try scorer in the championship.

The following players are not eligible for team selection due to injury:

Torsten van Jaarsveld (thigh), Francois Venter (neck), William Small-Smith (knee), Niel Jordaan (ankle), Tian Meyer (groin), Elandré Huggett (knee), Ruan van Rensburg (knee), Dennis Visser (knee), Tertius Kruger (lower leg), Lloyd Greeff (shoulder), Luther Obi (forearm), Malcolm Jaer (ankle).
