New players joins Toyota Cheetah squad

Two new in players joined the Toyota Cheetah camp on Tuesday as training resumed after a break.

Rhyno Smith is a fullback and on a 5 week loan from the Sharks.  The 25 year old played for the Sharks in Super Rugby and in the Currie Cup and the Sharks XV in the SuperSport Rugby Challenge.  He usually plays as a fullback, but can also play fly-half or winger.

In 2016, Smith was included in the Sharks' squad for their Super Rugby match against the Lions. He made his Super Rugby debut ten minutes into the second half.

The 23 year old lock, Sintu Manjezi joined the Toyota Cheetahs from the Griquas and is contracted for two years.  He played for Griquas in the Currie Cup and in the SuperSport Rugby Challenge. His regular position is lock or flanker.

Tapiwa Mafura, will be joining the Toyota Cheetahs early November.  The wing and fullback is contacted for two years.  The 22-year-old exciting and versatile Leopards and North West University fullback capped off a memorable season with selection into the 2018 Varsity Cup Dream Team XV.

He excelled in SA schools’ rugby starring in fly-half, wing and fullback before moving to fullback.  Mafura’s big break came under the current Leopards and NWU Varsity Cup coach Jonathan Mokuena, who included him in the senior Leopards team for the SuperSport Rugby Challenge in 2017.
