A SPECIAL MILESTONE FOR OUPA MOHOJE

Teboho Oupa Mohoje will play his 100th game on Friday evening when the Toyota Cheetahs play against NovaVit Griffons.

Oupa expresses how grateful he is to have achieved this milestone.

"I am grateful to have gone where I am with the Cheetahs. I don't think I'd do it with any other club than the Cheetahs. It's been a lot of hard work and tears, but I can mostly say that the good outweighs the bad, so I'm privileged to have gone this far."

Mohoje played his first match for the Toyota Cheetahs, a week after his 23rd birthday, against the Lions at Ellis Park, Johannesburg, on 10 August 2013.

"My first Currie Cup game was in 2013 against the Lions, and we won. The following year I played my first Super Rugby game. It was against the Chiefs. We drew that game, which was the beginning of big things for me. It was hard to leave Super Rugby, but going to the Pro14 and making it to the quarter-finals in our first season was incredible."

Earlier in his career, Oupa played for the University of the Free State side, the Shimlas, in the Varsity Cup competitions in 2011, 2012, and 2013 (as captain). In 2013, he was voted the "Player That Rocks".

He played his first of 19 Tests for the Springboks on 28 June 2014 against Scotland in Port Elizabeth.

In 2016, Mohoje was included in a South Africa 'A' squad that played a two-match series against a touring England Saxons team and was appointed team captain.

"For me to be here is something I've always been grateful for and aim to achieve. I saw guys like Raymond and Aranos achieving their milestones. I've always wanted to be there because it was inspiring. So, for me getting here. I hope I am inspiring one or two people coming up." Oupa Mohoje concludes.

Teboho Stephen (Oupa) Mohoje was born on 03 August 1990 in Phuthaditjhaba, Qwa Qwa, and after his schooling at HTS Louis Botha in Bloemfontein.
